Things are humming along. Passed the 7k mark and I'm finally getting into the NaNo groove. We'll see if the nifty word count widget works!
For all the nice novelers (sp?) at the Boulevard write-in today, I'm sorry I gabbed so much and kept all of you (and me) from writing. I blame it on the massive amounts of coffee and cake.
Now, if I could just tune out the distractions: stop trying to watch Hulu while typing, stop checking the forums, stop shopping for a noir costume for the Night of Writing Dangerously.... I just might make some real progress.
As Garrison Keillor says, "Be well, do good work, and keep in touch." Or something like that.

November 5
Only on day five of National Blog-a-Day Month, and I've already missed two days! I will double up, I suppose, but not tonight. I'm about 5k into NaNoWriMo, which means I'll be up working towards another 3k+ tonight. So far, so good, but the character is exactly me at this point.... which means that it's time something absolutely amazing happens to her!
This is not the Great American Novel I imagined -yet- but it's not too late. This novel must be published next year! (As I need to be under 35 to win a Young Lion's Award or be otherwise considered remarkable.)

November 2
Well, the 27 words I've written today are a long way from the 2,500 I had planned. So, instead of checking out fabulous inkygirl cartoons like http://www.inkygirl.com/nanowrimo-day-1/, I'll settle in with a big cup of cocoa and get typing.
There are some great "dares" for Sac NaNo writers to include in their novels.... Ah, perhaps I should have chosen to write Fantasy instead of Literary Fiction to better take them on. I may still find a way to use awesomesauce, though....

November 1
Today is the first day of National Novel Writing Month! I went to a lovely kick-off party last night with other Sacramento writers, but had to come home just shy of the 12:01 a.m. writing bell to be with the children. No matter - laptop plus Halloween treats equals a late night and a good start.
The Sac NaNoWriMo group meeting at Temple was on Good Day Sacramento this morning. While all the other writers were shown furiously typing away, I was trying to balance a journal on a coffee trolley, so I could entertain the children and make an attempt to scribble notes. Woot!
Almost 2,000 words today. I am feeling optimistic!
